Raveness began acting in the porn industry at the age of 18 and initially only performed with her husband, who went by the pseudonym Red Bone, and other female stars. Her stage name is of Native American origin and means "from the spirit." In 1997, she divorced Red Bone and began working with other male performers. By 2000, she had remarried, this time to fellow porn star Todd Alexander, but they divorced in 2003. In 2000, she took a break from adult films to try her hand at mainstream cinema. She dyed her hair red and wore brown contact lenses to minimize the chance of being recognized.
